The health center will be built in a mountain area between Uganda and Dr. Congo. Many families live in the mountains all the way up to 4000 meters above sea level. They lack roads and many villages are difficult to reach. The nights can be quite cold although the location is very close to the equator. Newborn babies are especially prone to the cold and can easily get sick if they freeze. We therefore have a special solidarity project where women in Norway give a helping hand to the babies in Rwenzori. They have now knitted more than 550 sets consisting of sweater, hat, socks and a blanket. We are looking forward to giving these to the mother who will give birth in our facility.
Premature children need to keep their bodies warm. The clothes knitted by the Norwegian women will help save lives.
If you would like to join the Knitting Project, please let us know.
